James Clarkston

James Clarkston loves teaching and performing music for a

living. He was originally inspired to pick up the guitar by the rock

group KISS. In college he majored in music and fell in love with

Classical Guitar and Flamenco Guitar. Over the years he has

played Jazz, Folk, Country, Blues and Pop Music. James has over

25 years of experience teaching guitar and ukulele, privately and

in public schools. James takes pride and customizing lessons that

incorporate proper technique, music theory, and music history.

James accepts students of all ages and experience levels. James

enjoys taking pictures of sunsets on the beach.

Over the years James has grown from his life experiences,

including performing at a private party in honor of Ex-President

George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. Some of the

celebrities that James has performed for include Film and Music

Legend Debbie Reynolds, Ex-LA Laker and entrepreneur Earvin

"Magic" Johnson, and National News Anchor Sam Donaldson.

James has been the opening act for the Grammy Nominated

Guitar Duo Strunz & Farah. Music by James has been featured in

several TV and Radio Commercials. "Dos Guitarras" by James

Clarkston has been featured on NPR. Tours of the West Coast and

the Southwestern United States amplify his popularity. James

performs at private and public events in restaurants, bars, and

hotels all over San Diego.
